INTRODUCING
THE STUDIO DONEGAL
SOFT CHUNKY
KNITTING PATTERN COLLECTION
For the past decade, Donegal designer Ailbíona McLochlainn has been working with Studio Donegal yarns to create her distinct knits. This is the first knitting pattern collection designed specifically for Studio Donegal Soft Chunky.
a capsule collection
for everyday wear
Generally speaking, chunky weight yarns can evoke mixed feelings from knitters! On the one hand, projects in chunky weight are quick to knit. On the other hand, they tend to use up a lot of yarn, resulting in knits that are heavy and not always wearable.
The unique benefit of Studio Donegal Soft Chunky is that it offers the best of both worlds. It knits up exceptionally fast, yet keeps the yarn expenditure reasonable. The finished knits are easy to wear, versatile, and entirely lacking in that awkward bulky feel that some chunky yarns can have.
It was this characteristic of Studio Donegal Soft Chunky that inspired me to approach this pattern collection as a ‘capsule’ - pieces that can be mixed and matched, worn together in multiple combinations, and even layered, to create a variety of everyday looks that will integrate seamlessly into the knitter’s wardrobe.
The complete Studio Donegal Soft Chunky Pattern Collection can be pre-purchased here. Individual patterns will soon be available from Studio Donegal directly, as well as on ravelry.
Meanwhile, please see below for a preview of the patterns, and links to the yarns you will need for them!
